L'AH-64 Apache est un hélicoptère d'attaque tout temps. Il est actuellement construit par Boeing, qui a absorbé la société McDonnell Douglas (qui avait elle-même racheté la société Hughes en 1984). La société Hughes l'avait développé à l'origine pendant la guerre froide afin de stopper les colonnes de chars d'assaut du pacte de Varsovie en cas de conflit en Europe.
Son baptême du feu eût lieu au Panama en décembre 1989. Par la suite, il fut engagé massivement pendant la guerre du Golfe et plus récemment en Afghanistan et en Irak.
