As a member of the European Tech Alliance (EUTA), BlaBlaCar was created in France in 2006 by Frédéric Mazzella. BlaBlaCar is the world’s leading long-distance ridesharing platform – a global, trusted community of 20 million drivers and passengers across 19 countries, including 13 EU countries. The site and mobile apps connect people looking to travel long distances with drivers going the same way, so they can travel together and split the costs of the journey. BlaBlaCar is optimising one of the world's largest wasted capacity - idle car seats - creating a new sociable, affordable and environmentally friendly way to travel.
