Around 14 million people across southern Africa face going hungry after a prolonged drought wrecked harvests, with Malawi among the worst hit countries, the UN's World Food Programme said Monday. A drought occurs when the soil and the environment get no or very little water. It can reduce or destroy crop production and affect animals by reducing their feed or by destroying their natural habitat.VIDEOGRAPHIC
