How Does Allergies Work?

描述

How Does Allergies Work? The immune system of allergy sufferers makes a class of antibodies, a protein called immunoglobulin E (IgE). For each allergen, the body develops an IgE, a specific antibody.

Immunoglobulin is the only antibody that binds to mast cells (cells found in tissue), and basophils (a type of blood cell).

Both types of cells come into contact with the allergen, so the IgE that corresponds to the substance in question is coupled and sends signals for inflammatory chemicals called cytokines, histamines and leukotrienes to come into action.

It is these substances that cause inflammation in the respiratory system and produce allergy symptoms.
