Le personnage principal, dont le cerveau est le vecteur de cette expérience, explore les interactions entre différents niveaux de réalité, ce qui va conduire à la création d'une troisième réalité, intermédiaire et subjective, où tous les signes et repères de la première partie sont inversés :
