Strokes are sudden and have an immediate effect. They occur when the brain’s vital supply of oxygen and nutrients is cut off, often by a clot, fat or air bubble. It’s possible to reduce the risk of a stroke by eating healthily, exercising, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Monday October 29, 2012 is national stroke awareness day.VIDEOGRAPHIC
