Millions of Indians hope for a better future, with wellpaying
jobs and a decent standard of living. To meet their
aspirations, the country needs broad-based economic
growth and more effective public services—delivered
quickly. Technology can play an important role in raising
productivity, efficiency, and innovation. Ironically, India’s
prowess in information technology is a defining element
of its global brand, but so far, large parts of the country
remain untouched by its power.
