artists statement on DECAYING VESSEL
when i made DECAYING VESSEL in late January, i felt as if i was cursed to forever
live in a body that doesn't belong to me. it's a messy short film i made just to get all of these feelings purged from my system. making it helped me get one step closer to taking the plunge im embarking on today, as i write this 3 or so hours before going into my first HRT appointment.
DECAYING VESSEL was filmed on an iPhone 11 pro max, a sony handycam hdr-xr500, and a mustek dv3500, over the course of one snowfall's life cycle.
the snow is born. the snow lives. the snow decays into nothing. the snow can do nothing about it. it cannot stop itself from melting because the snow is not alive.
i am alive.
