Improve staff performance
描述
Everyone is created equal — but some are created more equal than others.
It's a pretty old joke, but it has a lot of relevance when you are trying to manage a team in your business — and treating everybody the same can create a whole lot of problems.
It's quite common to get frustrated with certain staff members. Perhaps some of them don't follow instructions. Perhaps you feel some of them aren't living up to their full potential. Perhaps you get frustrated with some of them because they don't even try to come up with their own solutions. They don't attempt to be creative. They perhaps say, "Well, that's not my job," or they'll leave it for somebody else. And that can be very frustrating and costly.
Quite commonly when a business owner is trying to deal with these sorts of issues in their business, they'll look at the staff. You'll quite often hear the old chestnut, "Well, good help is hard to find."
I think more often than not, staff members don't perform because they're actually not managed correctly.
Imagine yourself — the boss or management — standing at the deep end of a swimming pool. We call somebody over and say, "I've got a job for you. Jump in." The person jumps in the pool, flails around for a while and then falls lifelessly to the bottom of the pool.
