Hi, this video with animation explains the working principle of a very basic Generator which outputs Alternating Current. Here the magnetic field is kept fixed and the conductor is rotating inside the field. (It can also be the other way round, as long as relative motion is maintained). The mechanism of "slip rings" is shown to help understand how we get Alternating current with every rotation of conductor.
