The Right Stuff
描述
My video tribute to my father, who died of cancer in Jauary, 2009. His name was Brooks Grimme, grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, served in the United States Navy during WWII, on the island of Samar, Philippine Islands, and after the war, joined Werner von Braun's fledgling team of rocket scientists & engineers at Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama. The first space agency was at that time known as the Army Ballistic Missile Command, but was later renamed as the National Aeronatics & Space Agency (NASA). The guidance systems my dad developed were used in both the unmanned and manned space flight programs (Mercury, Gemini & Apollo), and was awarded 4 patents for his analog & digital guidance systems. My dad received his training in electronics, radio & RADAR while in the Navy, and later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida's College of Engineering (BSEE) in 1950. He was a well respected scholar, engineer, scientist, inventor & businessman during his lifetime.
