The Trial
描述
In 1953, Iran’s democratically-elected Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mosaddeq is overthrown in an American-British coup, aided by internal pro-Shah elements. Mosaddeq is then put on trial, where he defends his service and boldly lashes out at the Shah’s regime for its unconstitutional campaign to topple him. The Iranian premier’s reactions in the dock and his sophisticated responses infuriate the lowly-educated prosecutor who seeks a death sentence for him. Mosaddeq is then convicted and sentenced to three years in prison and passes away while under house arrest in Ahmadabad outside the capital Tehran.
