Gloman Merritt is the descendant of the first Galician from Spain to arrive in Candon, Ilocos Sur in late 17th century, Ignacio Cariño. Gloman is the 8th generation great grandson of Gabriela Silang or (María Josefa Gabriela Cariño Silang) one of Philippines National Heroes.Gabriela Wikipedia:
